Finally arrived in Vancouver. Settled into our accommodation located near the Capilano Suspension Bridge North Vancouver side. From the city we catch the seabus to take us to Lonsdale Quay and then the Highlands bus #246. Apart from working out the best way to manage purchasing fares for the local transportation it has been a great start to Vancouver vibes.
Saturday evening we decided to support "local" which to me means buying from the region you are staying in. At the Canyon restaurant I had the salmon and PC had the lamb. Both delicious meals from the nightly specials. Paul's blushing lamb was very local if you were staying in Australia! It was priced like it was part of our excess luggage.
A late morning start Sunday in rain we ventured into Vancouver for a day of discovery. I "discovered" that Paul still finds it hard to get his bearings in the northern hemisphere even with a map. We visited the BC (British Columbia) Sports Hall of Fame which is a museum located in the BC stadium. Very interesting collection with one of the exhibits about 2010 Winter Olympics. Checked out the Vancouver library before the start of our Forbidden Tour.
The Forbidden walking tour went for just over 2 hours and was a great history lesson about the early settlement in Vancouver and the corrupt officials, prohibition, immigration, prostitution and opium. I am sure I did more than the recommended 10,000 steps for wellbeing. My medicine has been the locally crafted beer with PC indulging in BC reds.
To add a final step to finish off the day Paul's comment "Susan inadvertently pushed the stop button too early to cause an additional late night walking tour to our BnB which wore me out and caused my early snoring"
